Overall, good job everyone. This was the first time we used costumes and I'm proud of how well you guys did with them. We still have a lot of work to do though. We open in 6 days!!!
We will not be using costumes tomorrow (Friday) just so we can get through the run quickly and let the pit leave. We will be using ALL costumes Saturday. Lots of you did not have complete costumes. Bring them Saturday... or else.
Tech week officially starts Saturday (WOOOO). It will be stressful, painful, and tiring. Drink lots of water, gargle with apple cider vinegar, and keep a good attitude. YOU CAN DO IT!!!
Start spreading the word! Family, friends, people who live in Warren Twp who were unsatisfied with their production... etc. We wanna sell out!
See you all tomorrow! And the next day... and the next day... and the next day...

Mrs. Barth's notes:
Jake's notes:
- There were several props found laying on the bleachers. Don't let this happen again.
- There were costumes found laying on the stage. Don't let this happen again.
- Leah, start your line after the freeze very quickly. Remember, we cut a few measures.
- As you all noticed, I was conducting today so the pit could be more together, so I don't have a lot of specific notes.
- Please gargle with salt water or apple cider vinegar. Nina, go on complete vocal rest.
- STAY IN CHARACTER if something goes wrong!!!!
- Good luck on your run tomorrow! You will do great! Just keep a positive attitude!

Jake's notes:
Omigod
- Serena you were late for "get ready"
- You all have to crouch more. It's not drastic enough.
- Chelsea - change your top. Too pink.
- Margot, Serena, Pilar, face out. Do not turn.
- Great acting Jolie! During the saleswoman.
- Elle - I liked how you delivered the line "it'll pucker"
- The transition to Serious needs a lot of work.
- Warner - cheat out and plant your feet. Do not sway. Once you get to your place, take a strong stance and keep it.
- We removed all the paint stuff from backstage so I hope that will help with moving the triangles.
- Ariel - don't forget to cross over Elle
- Kate - your gum thing needs to be more obvious and more convincing. It's a character trait.
- Enid - your character interpretation is awesome. Keep it up.
- Emmett - memorize your lines correctly
- People placing chairs on stage left - only 4. All in one line. Only take 1 away for salon.
- Warner and Sundeep - you need different shirts for this scene
- Callahan - your lines are slightly off. Learn them correctly.
- Vivienne - Move the door after "girlfriend"
- Transition needs work
- Transition to party needs work
- Warner - learn your lines
- Emmett - cross on "get one as well"
- Elle - look over your lines for saying goodbye to warner. They were not right today.
- Resume prop - someone is handing Elle her bag?
- Good singing ensemble!
- Elle - you need to act more. You need to make a more obvious switch from your disappointment to the excitement of getting the internship. Smile!
- Elle - make sure you raise your hand at the right time. It looks weird if you raise it when he asks who thinks shes guilty.
- Workout buddies - practice with your shirts. They NEED to get on right.
- Brooke - practice with your shirt. This one REALLY NEEDS to get on right.
- Warner - wear a suit jacket for this scene.
- Elle - I'm not liking the pink shoes for this scene.
- Enid - tuck in your shirt when you wear the blazer.
- Emmett and Elle - You need to act more. I want to be in tears by the time its over. This is the most emotional part of the show. Make it happen.
- Harmony on "you are the best thing..." didn't happen
- Elle - we will have to work on this quick change. You will get it with practice.

Jake's notes:
- Memorize your lines, lyrics, and blocking! 12 days!
- The transitions ran very smoothly today. We need some more work going into the Bend and Snap scene.
- NOTE TO ENTIRE CAST - These next two weeks will be exhausting. Drink lots of water and STAY HEALTHY. You CAN NOT get sick at this point. Gargle with apple cider vinegar and cut out dairy, chocolate, and caffeine from your diet. Save your voices. Don't scream or strain. Don't do any risky activities. Broken bones are the last thing we need right before a show. You have all worked so hard these past two months. Don't throw it all away now!
- Tech week tips
- Get as much homework as possible done during school. We will be having rehearsal until AT LEAST 6:30 every night, and you will want to get to sleep early so you are not tired the next day.
- You will be EXHAUSTED after each tech rehearsal. Drink lots of water and don't eat junk food. Keep your energy up.
- Tech week can be very emotionally taxing. You will probably feel like crying at least once. Just remember that it is all going to be worth it when you demonstrate all the hard work you've been doing. That being said, you must stay focused during the rehearsals. The more focused you are, the quicker you can get out of there and go home.
- EVERYONE will be wearing eyeliner (including boys). It helps the audience see your eyes under the harsh stage lights.
- Another note on makeup: you will be wearing full makeup for all of tech week and the shows. When you get home, it will be very tempting to just leave the makeup on and not wash it off before going to bed. This is a huge mistake. Just don't do it. Trust me.
- Good luck!!!

Mrs. Barth's notes:
- Very productive rehearsal today. We learned a lot of new things.
- Jack. Nice job pronouncing Windham the way we want it.
- Guiliana - swinging the coat for the model pose is very effective
- Chelsea -great job getting in Elle's face when you admit you killed him. Remember, Chutney is a JERK
- There was a lack of enthusiasm and singing, especially during Remix.
- Stage crew- thank you, in general
- Step dancing is really coming along. Please continue to practice on your own.
2/25
Jake's notes:
Jake's notes:
- Great run today! We still have a lot of work to do though!
- Act I will be completely off-book from now on
- Entire cast - when standing backstage, leave room for the crew to move set pieces. If you are waiting awhile for your entrance, step into the hall so it is less crowded onstage.
- Everyone backstage - you need to stop standing where we can see you. You also need to make sure the side curtains are always completely closed.
- Stage crew - good job today!
- Zach - thank you for your work today! We can't do the show without you!
- I don't have a lot of specific notes because today I mostly concentrated on making everything go smoothly, but the rest of the production team does.

2/24
Jake's notes:
- Today was great. You guys worked very efficiently and I'm proud of all of you.
- Remember to use the "thank you" method so I don't have to repeat what I say when we run something!!
- Jake: "Take it from the top" You: "Thank you, top"
- Make sure you stay out of sight backstage. If you can see any of the walls or floor of the gym, someone can see you!
- Shoppers in Omigod You Guys - please come out at the right time and stop looking confused.
- Stephanie - good job as the saleswoman today.
- Jamie and Ariel - switch spots so Jamie is behind the couch and Ariel is behind the end table.
- Callahan - enter your classroom from upstage.
- Greek chorus - remember to turn the right way at the end of Chip On My Shoulder.
- Stage crew - transition from Chip On My Shoulder to the trailer scene must be quicker.
- STOP TALKING BACKSTAGE!!!!!!! Also, DO NOT sit backstage. That includes stage crew. If you have free time, look for something to do.
- Next week, we will be completely off-book for all Act I scenes and songs. You may still use your script for Act II, but not for long. Stage crew must always use their scripts.
- Good job today!! Don't lose the energy for our run tomorrow!!
2/15
Jake's notes:
- Good rehearsal today. Thank you all for keeping up with me.
- Everyone must stay behind the pink line at all times! This will avoid feedback when we start using mics.
- Stage crew - thank you for paying attention today. I gave you a lot of information at once so I'm happy you were able to remember it.
- Elle - good vocals for "So Much Better" today!
- Greek chorus - nice job looking more interesting in your line
- Ensemble - SING. YOU'RE NOT SINGING.
- Party people in "What You Want" - have more fun with it. You guys are at a beach bash. Dance a little.
2/13 -
Jake's notes:
- The singing was very strong today! You guys sounded like you knew what you were doing. That being said, you should keep reviewing so you don't forget!
- Grandmaster Chad - try using a slight Jamaican accent when you sing your solo
- Callahan - don't forget my note about looking out at the audience
- Today was a very easy day, but we have tons of work to do from now on. Be prepared to work hard Wednesday!
2/10 -
Jake's notes:
- Paulette - During the trailer scene, you smile the whole time. Work on that.
- Elle and Paulette - Stand closer together when you interact.
- Cailene - Please be more urgent sounding when you interrupt Elle.
- Emmett - Leave the stage when the rest of the ensemble leaves.
- Greek chorus - You guys have the staging down for "So Much Better" but you guys look sooooo boooorrriinngggggg . . . Have fun! Talk to eachother! That's why we have you switch spots, so you have a new conversation partner.
- Ensemble off stage for So Much Better - thank you for singing!
- Workout friends - remember your spacing so you don't hit things with your CardioWhip 5000 (wall, curtain, humans, etc.)
- You guys look so good and energetic in this number. Keep it up!
- Callahan - remember to turn towards the audience
- Jamie and Cailene - work on your fake dancing.
Mrs. Barth's notes:
- Great job today. Sooo. different from Wednesday. Thank you
- Excellent job on the burst during personal essay. Let's just keep an eye on the traveller and front curtain lines
- Callahan remember to turn to the audience
- Whipped into shape has a lot of energy and movement all over. Love it.
- Enjoy the weekend
2/8 -
Jake's notes:
- Serena - change lyrics from "light candles in single file" to "get ready in single file"
- Margot, Serena, Pilar - Make sure you take the couch offstage with you.
- Eleftheria - Begin your lines as soon as they begin leaving the stage. Do not wait for me to tell you anymore.
- Chelsea - Your Delta Nu choreography is improving. Good job! But I need you to practice more so it can get better.
- Shoppers - You need to know when your entrance is. Pay attention.
- Delta Nus - Great energy on "Elle saw right through that salesgirl's lies"
- Harvard officers - act more with your lines in "What You Want"
- Callahan - Please watch the song "Blood In The Water" on youtube. Use that as an example to develop your character.
- Law students during proposal - Scar, your acting was excellent! But the jumping is too loud. Try to figure out how to express the same emotions without making too much noise.
- You guys need to have better energy during the greek chorus part of "So Much Better." Try silently talking to each other. Have fun with it!
- I realize that you were excited about the possible snow day, but being distracted is unacceptable. We were supposed to be done by 4 and it took us an extra hour.
Enjoy your day off. Be prepared to work Friday.
Mrs. Barth's notes:
- Dewey. great work. You definitely get the point across about your relationship with Paulette.
- Tough day today. I think everyone had snow on their minds but we can't loose focus. Let's work on staying in character when on stage.
- Stephanie. please walk out a little more on stage for your initial lines
- The 9 Delta Nus spinning. I think you finally got it towards the end. Don't spin until the person before you is DONE and keep those arms straight
- Omigood is almost there. Very exciting for our opening number.
2/6 -
Jake's notes:
- We got SOOOOO much done today!! Three songs!!! WOW!!!!
- Kayla, thank you for knowing your part even though I didn't tell you we would be singing it today. I heard you hit that high note at the end. *thumbs up*
- Isabella S. - I picked you for Enid/Chad because I saw your confidence at callbacks. I'm not seeing that confidence at rehearsals. Please work on that. I know you can do it! :)
- The energy at the end of Find My Way/Finale was AMAZING today. DO NOT lose that energy. We need it for the entire show.
- Thank you Vivienne for working on your song on your own time. It makes rehearsal time more productive and smooth and shows true respect for the part and the cast and directors as a whole
- With that said, anyone with any kind of "solo" in a song, please practice at hone and make it your own
- Jack please stand as requested during singing. It will help with your volume and make hitting notes easier. We can't hear you.
2/3 - Great work! We accomplished a lot today.
Jake's notes:
- Stephanie - work on facing the audience. Good energy dancing today!
- Michelle - be louder and act more on your "oh my god" line
- In "What You Want" there were moments when people stopped singing. Please figure out when you are supposed to sing.
- Good work on your part today Chad! Keep working at it and remember to pause for the lines in between.
- Elle, The new facial expression when receiving the card is a keeper
- Stephanie your determination and enthusiasm during Whipped is inspiring
- Leah you have me convinced that it is important to exercise
- I think our opening number is going to be a great audience grabber. Everyone is pitching in.
- Kabbigal, you were made for your part. I appreciate that you are always in character.
2/1 - Thank you all for adapting well to our change of plans. Since we did not get to run the opening number on stage, please review for Friday. We will begin the run at 2:50 sharp! Notes from today: Michelle - work on your "oh my god, you guys." We can't hear you. Isabella S. - please learn your part in "What You Want." Giuliana - Work on your character. You were much better today, but I need more. Everyone - work on your entrances. I keep hearing only 3 or 4 people sing at the beginning of the line. You all need to come in.
Overall, everyone did a very good job today! I look forward to seeing you all on Friday. --Jake
1/27 - Great rehearsal today! We were able to accomplish a lot even though half of the cast was not present towards the end. That being said, we will not be as lenient with absences in the future.
Please come to Monday's rehearsal having reviewed what we did today.
Have a good weekend! --Jake
